1 Month in the UK Itinerary

A full month to see England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and hidden corners — the definitive UK slow-travel itinerary.

The Month at a Glance

  • Week 1: London in depth + day trips (Windsor, Cambridge, Oxford)
  • Week 2: Southwest England (Cotswolds, Bath, Cornwall, Devon)

England (Weeks 1-2)

Week 1: London + day trips

Stay in London as a base. 3 full days in London (see our London in 3 Days). Then day trips: Windsor Castle, Cambridge, Oxford, Bath + Stonehenge (Viator day tour, £100-120).

Week 2: Southwest

Hire a car from London for 8 days. Cotswolds (2 nights) → Bath (1 night) → Cornwall (3 nights in Padstow or St Ives) → Dartmoor National Park (1 night) → drop car back.

Scotland (Week 3)

Train (5 hrs, £40-80 advance) or fly (£60-150) from London to Edinburgh. Base in Edinburgh 3 nights. Hire a car for Highlands loop: Inverness (1 night) → Isle of Skye (2 nights) → NC500 round trip if time allows. Finish back in Edinburgh.

Northern Ireland + Wales (Week 4)

Days 22-25: Northern Ireland

Fly Edinburgh to Belfast (1 hr, £30-80). Base in Belfast 2 nights (Titanic Quarter, political murals, Cathedral Quarter). Day trip: Giant's Causeway coastal route (car or Paddywagon tour).

Days 26-28: North Wales

Fly Belfast to Manchester (£30-60), drive 2 hours to Snowdonia. Climb Snowdon, visit Portmeirion village, Conwy Castle.

Days 29-30: South Wales + London return

Drive south to Cardiff (3 hrs). Cardiff Castle, Principality Stadium, Welsh seaside at Barry Island. Train or drive back to London for your flight home.
