How UK Visa Processing Works
The UK's visa system has three parts: the online application (gov.uk), the biometric appointment (at a commercial visa centre), and the decision (made by UK Visas and Immigration in the UK, then returned via the visa centre).
British embassies and consulates do NOT process visas themselves. They handle diplomatic, trade and consular work (helping British nationals).
